Bruxism Exercises – Do They Work?
What is bruxism? For the layman out there, bruxism is the medical term for teeth grinding. It affects over a million people worldwide. The numbers are probably larger than that because the majority of people that have the condition, don’t know that they have it. These people are not the victims of bruxism. The people that share their beds, are the real victims.
They are the people that have to endure night after night of that eerie teeth grinding noise. I know about it first hand, having to share a bed with my younger brother, growing up. He would grind his teeth all night! And me, being the young kid that I was, would hit him(elbow,knee,kick), in hopes that if he would change his sleeping position, he would stop grinding his teeth. He would change his position…and then continue to grind his teeth! Finally I learned to ignore it. He’s the reason to this day why I can go to sleep right next to a speaker, blasting music!
If my younger brother would have known about the bruxism exercises that exist now, then maybe it would have made my life, and nights, a little easier. The bruxism exercises that I speak of serve to correct the problem of stress related bruxism. This type of teeth grinding is common and is usually brought on by the stresses of our everyday world.

This particular joint, is the key to relieving the sufferer of the effects of bruxism. Massaging the TMJ helps to relieve the frequent headaches, the tightness and pain that can resonate from the lower jaw to the forehead all the way down to the base of your neck. So as you can see, learning how to properly massage this joint will go a long way in helping you alleviate some of your pain.
